The clean smell of pine
One of our best HOTMAX customers told us the other day that she thought that one of the biggest benefits of our fuel logs is that they smell lovely. This is because they're actually made entirely and purely of softwood dust and particles.
We make no medicinal claims for our products, but one of the reasons we prefer using pine is that it has traditionally been regarded as having antiseptic properties. This has recently been scientifically verified. Pine does indeed contain oleoresins with anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.
So with HOTMAX you get the benefits of that clean, fresh smell of pine, but without the resins that can clog up flues and chimneys when you burn softwood logs.
The All-Purpose Winter Warmer
We had to show you this.In the middle of the first big freeze of this winter - November - one of our HOTMAX team was sitting having a coffee in snowy Wooler (in the borders), and past the cafe window walked a very cheerful gent wearing HOTMAX bags.
Bruce Baxter had two good reasons to be cheerful, even though he was walking because his car had been buried in snow for the past week. The HOTMAX bags he was wearing as gaiters were keeping the cold and wet out of his walking boots, and he had a woodburner loaded with HOTMAX in his holiday home nearby.
HOTMAX, he says, has been a wonderful discovery in the circumstances. "It's a really great fuel. It burns really well, it's economical, and it has a very high calorific value. It's so good that we're taking some back to our house in Ross-shire - whenever we can dig the car out."
